When Celebrities Crash Weddings

For most people, their wedding day is one of the most exciting days in their lives. Imagine how much more exciting it could be, though, with a celebrity guest crashing the party and turning up in your photographs. Over the last few years, there have been an increasing number of A-list names appearing at normal people’s wedding celebrations – everyone from actors and singers to real royalty. Although some people might object to celebrities making an appearance at their wedding, most find it exciting to see famous personalities unexpectedly showing their faces.

Whether you are getting married in the UK or abroad, there’s a chance that someone famous might stumble across the party and decide to stop in . Numerous websites have reported on famous stars appearing at these events unannounced. Sometimes it’s because they know the newly-weds are fans, but often it’s simply a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Serena Williams

Last May (2014), famous tennis player Serena Williams found herself watching a couple getting married nearby on the beach.  Wearing a distinctive leopard print swimsuit, the star went over to the group and posed for a number of photographs with the wedding guests. Later on, she even posted some of the photos to her own Instagram account, calling herself the ‘bikini wedding crasher’!

Beyonce

The biggest name in music was on holiday with her equally famous husband, Jay Z, in the Italian town of Portofino. On wandering in to a local small church, she found herself face to face with a couple getting married. Wearing just a sheer shirt over a bikini and her straw hat, Beyonce seemed happy to pose for photographs with the bride. Fortunately, none of the wedding party minded this interruption.

Conan O’Brien

Unlike other wedding crashers, Conan O’Brien actually was invited to Wes and Victoria Hoffman’s wedding in Atlanta, USA. A guest sent a Tweet to the star suggesting he come along to their party. To the surprise of all involved, he actually did turn up for the reception and made it a night to remember.

Queen Elizabeth II

Closer to home, another guest who surprised everyone by actually accepting their invitation to a wedding was Queen Elizabeth II. If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Hampshire, http://lemontree-photography.co.uk/ can’t guarantee royal attendance but can offer full coverage of the day. In March 2012, the bride-to-be had learned that there was a royal visit to their wedding venue on the same day as their wedding and so sent an invitation as a joke. To their surprise, the Queen accepted and came to greet them before carrying on with her scheduled visit.

Bill Clinton

Former American President Bill Clinton was staying in a resort in Cork, Ireland, when he found that there was a wedding taking place between an American and an Irish person. He took it upon himself to walk over and say hello, crashing their wedding in memorable style.
