New Year; The Ideal Time To Upgrade Your Home

I always think that the beginning of a new year is an ideal time to start planning an upgrade of your home. Now that the busy, frantic festive season is out of the way you’ll find yourself with time on your hands and enough breathing space to carefully consider your options. So, where do you begin?

I personally would begin with the dining room, but that’s only because it’s the room in need of a revamp the most at our house.  We recently took a trip to local furniture manufacturers Priest Brothers and were inspired by the wide ranges on offer! Having taken a look at the ranges available, I would want to start with a new dining table; perhaps one that will extend when I need the extra space for the occasional family get-togethers and meals, as there is nothing more frustrating than having to restrict the number of people you can accommodate. I’d also make sure I purchased a couple of extra dining chairs as I can always store them upstairs out of the way when not in use. A leather seat is always a good choice. It’s hard wearing and can easily be wiped clean when required and won’t date quickly either.

To that I would add a sideboard, perhaps in solid oak to compliment the new table and chairs. You can’t really have too much storage space and it will mean you can keep things hidden away, free from dust and also to hand for when you need them next.

If space permits, a bookcase is usually a wise choice. You can get them with glazed doors, open shelves or with a couple of drawers for versatility and not only can they display your collection of books, but they can also display other items as well such as family photos and ornaments to add a personal touch to the room. Once your new furniture arrives you will be amazed by the transformation of your dining room and will be keen to try it out with your family and friends.
