Manchester: After Hours

After a brush with Madchester back in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, the city of Manchester’s night life just became livelier and better with more interesting bars and nightclubs. The night life and the establishments reflect the city’s rich culture and character.

The city is home to several quirky and beautiful bars and clubs, each with their own unique design and ambiance. With a diverse selection of fun places, one can find a club or bar that best suits their personality and needs.

The Oddest Bar

The aptly named bar is interestingly designed with a beautifully crafted multicolored bar and an assortment of weird finds as ornaments. It serves delicious food which is locally sourced and also has a selection of beer that is sure to keep its customers satisfied.

The bar is famous for its quiz nights called Quizimodo usually happening on Wednesdays. Live music is also available on the first and third Thursdays of every month. While a unique tradition, Vinyl Appreciation Night, happens on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month. On Fridays, a fifty percent discount is given on cocktails starting from 5PM until 7PM.

After getting your drinking fill on Friday, enjoy some much-needed breakfast deals from the Hangover Club, every Saturday and Sunday from 10AM until 2PM.

The Fitzgerald

The Fitzgerald bar is a bar located above Hula Tiki Bar and Rosylee. It resembles a 1920’s speakeasy with its décor and ambiance. The Fitzgerald also offers master classes on cocktail mixing that differ from client to client depending on their needs.

Brand Tasting and Food Pairing Events are also available for those who need it. Experts at Fitzgerald share their knowledge with customers especially when introducing new products. The Fitzgerald hosts Jazz Jam Sessions featuring different artists from the region. The Fitzgerald is also available for corporate hire or private hire and is a stylish addition to any party, meeting, or social event.

Lock 91

Lock 91 was once a 19th century lock keepers’ cottage, refurbished and reopened as a bar in 2012. It has a homey feel that makes its customers feel relaxed and lets them unwind. There are darts and a pool table, which are quintessential pub classics.

People can hold private and corporate events in the bar, and with three floors and differently sized rooms, it can be really flexible in suiting anyone’s taste and requirement.

Lock 91 has various recreational activities like quiz nights named Quizard of Oz, Speed Quizzing, a Secret Film Club, Tuesday Live music, Get Your Lock’s Off which is an indie night, Get the Funk Out which is a night each month dedicated to funk, soul, disco, bootlegs, and classics, and Slippery When Wet which features funky house classics. Lock 91 also has its own cocktail master class that offers introductions to the techniques and equipment.

These are only some of Manchester’s finest pubs and bars. There are still a multitude more that can cater to each person’s unique taste and need. A good thing to do to know which one’s for you is to look through some of the many Manchester apartments and try the bars and pubs for yourself.
